NIT Raipur is a public technical and research institute that was founded in 1956 with two engineering disciplines – Metallurgy and Mining. It is an institute of National importance which was declared an NIT on 1st December 2005. The institute offers 5-year, 4-year and 2-year programs, such as B.Tech, B.Arch., M.Tech and MCA. It also offers doctoral degrees in the field of Science, Mathematica and Technology. NIT Raipur is committed to developing technical education by preparing experienced graduates in the field of engineering and technology. In the NIRF engineering rankings of 2021, the institute has been ranked 64th.

The vision of the institute is to develop as a leading technical institute of the country and create high quality human and knowledge resources. It aims to revamp engineering education and to shape young students into rational thinking engineers. NIT Raipur wants to attract highly qualified, talented and motivated faculty and create an environment to make teaching more learning-centric. It wants to develop the industry-institute interface for internship, fellowship and collaborative research for the PG program. 

National Institute of Technology Raipur offers undergraduate programs in 12 disciplines.
