In 1963, under the government of India, National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra (NIT Kurukshetra) was established. The institute initially began operating as a Regional Engineering College (REC),but on June 26, 2002, it later obtained the status of a Deemed University. Since it received the status of a Deemed University, the university was later renamed NIT Kurukshetra. It is ranked 44th under the engineering category in the NIRF 2021 ranking. NIT Kurukshetra conducts undergraduate and postgraduate education in different disciplines. The National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra campus stretches over an area of 292 acres on a picturesque setting imaginatively laid down. It offers a spectacle of artistic order and natural elegance. The campus has been categorised into three practical sectors, such as student hostels, educational buildings and employee residential sectors. Student hostels are in the shape of a cluster on the eastern side of the campus. Three hostel storage buildings provide students with spacious lodging and a friendly atmosphere.
