National Institute of Technology Goa, also known as NIT Goa, is a government-funded institution that was established in the year 2010. NIT Goa was founded under the act of parliament named the NIT Act 2007 and has been tagged with the title “Institute of National Importance”. NIT Goa is an autonomous college and functions under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.  According to NIRF Ranking 2021, the National Institute of Technology Goa has been ranked 85th with an overall score of 40.6 among engineering institutions while, in 2020, the institute was ranked 77th in NIRF ranking in the same category.

 

The NIT Goa provides undergraduates, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes in various specializations of engineering, humanities, etc. NIT Goa offers B.Tech courses in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The institution offers M.Tech programmes in Power Electronics and Power Systems, Computer Science and Engineering, and VLSI. NIT Goa admits students for B.Tech programme based on their JEE Main marks and participation in JoSAA counselling. Only 30 students are allowed in every department. For M.Tech programmes, NIT Goa takes only 20 students in every branch on the basis of GATE score and CCMT counselling. For P.hD, students need to qualify for the test and interview conducted by NIT Goa.
