The NIT Durgapur (formerly Regional Engineering College, Durgapur),was established by the Government of Indian by an Act of Parliament in 1960. It was established as one of the eight colleges aimed to function and deliver students with a premium education in the domain of engineering in the country and also to foster national integration. NIT Durgapur is a fully-funded premier Technological Institution of the Government of India. National Institute of Technology Durgapur is administered by an autonomous Board of Governors. The NIT Durgapur offers courses including BTech, MCA, MSc, MBA, MTech and PhD.
