The institute is currently functioning from its temporary site located in the district of Yupia in a high school building hired after seeking permission from the State of Arunachal Pradesh. The construction of NIT Arunachal Pradesh is currently ongoing in Jote, district of Papumpare in Arunachal Pradesh. The institute is currently functioning under the mentorship of NIT Durgapur. The institute has secured 160th rank in the Engineering category in NIRF 2021 Ranking with a score of 34.59 out of 100.
