Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad Prayagraj or MNNIT Allahabad was established in 1961 in the form of a joint enterprise of the Government of India and the Government of Uttar Pradesh. It was associated initially with the University of Allahabad and later transformed to be renamed as the Motilal Nehru Regional College of Engineering, and affiliated to the Uttar Pradesh Technical University until 2002. In 2007 it was granted the status of a deemed university and renamed as the “National Institute of Technology” with an elevation in status to Institution of national importance.
