Established in 2008, the Indian Institute of Technology, Jodhpur is a part of the prestigious IITs - the hallmark of quality technology education within the country and globally. The institute came into being by an Act of Parliament, the Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 2012. IIT jodhpur fosters tech education and research in the country. It has a meticulously planned 852 acres residential campus on National Highway 65. The institute houses state-of-the-art labs for research purposes and has Centres for Technologies to encourage technology development. And at present, there are 103 faculty members and 59 staff members at IIT Jodhpur.  Indian Institute of Technology, Jodhpur ranked 43rd under the NIRF 2021 ranking.

IIT Jodhpur has a total of 11 academic departments that offer different courses. These are the Bioscience and Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Computer Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, Physics, Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgical, and Materials Engineering. Since its inception, the college has trained hundreds of highly-skilled students in its undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes. In its different academic departments, IIT Jodhpur offers six academic programmes. Out of the six, two are dual degree programmes, namely M.Sc. - M.Tech. and M.Tech. - Ph.D. 

IIT Jodhpur ensures that its programmes' curriculum is in line with the latest industry standards. Apart from its academic departments, it has two schools, namely the School of Management and Entrepreneurship and the School of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. Moreover, the institute has been in close partnership with various domestic and international institutions that share the same commitment towards encouraging tech development. IIT Jodhpur has an Incubation and Tech Park and several research facilities to promote research. Students at the institution are provided with the best-in-class infrastructure and facilities for both academics and recreation.
